New Year & Newly Engaged!

Welcome to 2014, Happy New Year and Congratulations to the newly engaged!

You have been proposed to, you have accepted and you are now officially engaged, so whats next? First things first, the most special thing for a bride on her wedding day is the gown she will be wearing. All eyes will be on her, it is all about the dress. Wedding season is just around the corner, and it is never too early to start shopping, the sooner the better. Our staff put together a list of 10 tips to consider when shopping for the perfect gown. We hope these are helpful!

  1. Choose your party carefully! Make sure who you're bringing has the same vision and is supportive. It can be an overwhelming experience trying on bridal gowns and you want someone who is in your corner building you up!

  2. The earlier you start shopping the better. It's never too early if you're ready to buy! Dresses can take up to a year to come in and you have to think about setting aside time for alterations as well

  3. Begin your shopping process with an open mind. Be open to suggestions from your bridal consultant. Bridal consultants know "bridal" and have dealt with all types of figures. They may suggest you try on styles you never considered before. In the outcome, you may end up falling in love with one of the gowns you never considered.

  4. Do not over shop! Trying on too many dresses only makes the dress shopping process harder. If you are trying on 100+ dresses, it can make it confusing and overwhelming. Stick to a few favorite salons in the area and choose from there.

  5. Make sure that you research the bridal salons that you'll be visiting. Call ahead to see if appointments are required and what their store hours are. Most appointment times are done in a certain time allowances, so make sure to be prompt and ready. If you run late, a courtesy call will be appreciated, but keep in mind that it'll run into your appointment time cutting it a bit shorter.

  6. Do not over book yourself! Many times a bride schedules back-to-back appointments throughout the day. Enjoy the process of shopping for your bridal gown. Book your days light!

  7. If you are more of a visual person wear your hair/makeup the way you would to go out so you can see yourself as more of a bride.

  8. Allow your consultant to complete your gown vision by accessorizing your look with a veil, necklace, comb/headband, beaded belt and earrings. By doing this it could make a world of difference in your opinion of that gown.

  9. Don't forget to bring with a strapless bra or corset, shoes with the heel height you plan on wearing on your wedding day and rubber bands/clips for your hair. These essentials may come in handy while trying on those beautiful gowns.

  10. Remember to enjoy every minute of your shopping experience. This should be a happy and memorable time for you. The final decision for your dream dress should be yours and only yours!
